SAN DIEGO, CA —Today, Shana Hazan, former public school teacher, parent of a San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) student, and candidate for the SDUSD Board of Education District B, announced the endorsement of Congresswoman Sara Jacobs.
Congresswoman Jacobs, who represents the 53rd Congressional District covering Central and East San Diego, which overlaps with SDUSD District B, serves as the Founding Chair of San Diego for Every Child, a coalition dedicated to ending child poverty in San Diego County. In Washington, Jacobs has been instrumental in pushing for expanded childcare funding in the Build Back Better legislation.
“From her work as an educator and at Jewish Family Service to First 5 California and our City’s Human Relations Commission, Shana Hazan has built an impressive record of advocating for our children and families,” said Congresswoman Jacobs. “I’ve come to know Shana through our shared commitment to ending child poverty in San Diego. Shana is strategic and collaborative and I’m confident she’ll deliver transformative results and be the leader our students and families deserve. I’m proud to support her.
“Congresswoman Jacobs has been an incredible champion for San Diego’s children, and I’m honored to have her support and trust in my campaign,” said Hazan. “On the School Board, I will work every day to level the playing field to ensure our students can reach their full potential and look forward to collaborating with Congresswoman Jacobs to drive impact across our shared district. I’ll give every parent a voice on the Board so that together we can build strong schools and stronger communities where everyone has input, and all our kids succeed.”
This is Hazan’s second endorsement by a member of the San Diego Congressional Delegation. She was previously endorsed by Congressman Scott Peters.
